Our night in the Castle of Good Lovin'

Friday morning we woke up, had a little coffee that ruined our stomachs, recovered, and went to study in the Plaza de Barcelona. This is a cute little park close to our house that has the coolest play-set. It's in the shape of a castle. There's also a built in trampoline in the ground. So cool. So, we "studied" out there, and by studied I mean reverted back to our childhood and ran around like school children. But we left our books open on the bench, does that count??

So, lunch was a garbanzo bean and vegetable "salad" with chicken nuggets. Interesting.
Later on we headed to school for mid-terms. Check those off the list. Not too hard but definitely more writing than in Madrid. Fill in the blank is "too simple", instead how about write how you would make the world a better place. Oh sure, since I know how to do that in English, in Spanish should be a cinch!

The good news is that we got out of class early and headed back to pack up and grab a taxi to go to El Castillo del Buen Amor (We always joke around that it's the castle of good lovin'). This castle is in the middle of nowhere. We're not even sure if anyone else is staying here. So much so that we had to ask our waiter at dinner if we were the only guests. He said no, there are 4 more. We're in room 44, so there are a ton of empty rooms. We arrived and got our key. It's attached to the largest piece of fringe I have ever seen. There's no possible way to lose this thing. Jen, this type of key chain would be good for you!

Then, the receptionist lead us through some creepy dark salons, complete with coats of armor that scare me every time I come around the corner, up the tiny stair case to our room. Our room is huge and gorgeous and really comfortable. It also has big windows through which we watched the sunset tonight.

Dinner had to be the highlight. It definitely makes my top 5 list of most fun and most awkward moments in my life. Well, we were the only ones in this dining room. The immediately brought us a menu and we couldn't understand hardly a word on the paper. I stuck with the gazpacho and Courtney got what we thought was a safe salad with mozzarella and tomatoes. For an appetizer or something (it definitely wasn't appetizing that's for sure) they brought us some unidentifiable seacreature on a spoon. We kept laughing and didn't touch it but just gave it horrific looks. So much so that 2 waiters came over and asked us what the problem was. We were like, "What is this?" The bad part was all they could tell us is that it was from the sea and it was good. Fail, if they don't know what it is, I ain't eating it. So they took it away. Thank God! Courtney's choice of dinner was interesting too. This was some serious mozzarella. I'm talking a blob of slimy white, chewy cheese. Nasty. I couldn't even watch her eat it!
Slimy cheese wad...

So, this whole time we're cackling because of the mess we've gotten ourselves into. We're the only ones in the restaurant and the waiters are standing awkwardly in the corner facing our direction. There was no escaping. Then another couple walks in and we start thinking, um, we're in the castle of good lovin'. What are these waiters thinking about these 2 crazy american girls! Oh dear, we don't swing on that side of the playground if you know what I mean.

Where is everybody??

Good gracious, glad we survived that hour. We also got to watch the sunset from our window. It was gorgeous.

I can't wait to sit by the pool tomorrow and absorb the castle atmosphere.
