Siempre Real

Hola! I made it back from Italy and I finally have internet access for updates!

Monday morning was rough. After a long day of travel, it was hard to get out of bed and listen in a foreign language. Every word sounds like gibberish when you're tired. Oh well, after a much need cup of coffee I managed to pull it together before culture class. After class, we took our new Swiss roommates and some new international friends from Germany, Italy, and Bulgaria over to Retiro to eat lunch by the lake. It was a beautiful day and me and Courtney split a tortilla for lunch.

After a quick siesta, we headed out to meet some friends to tour the Real Madrid futbol stadium. This was one of my favorite things we have done so far. We did a self-guided tour and saw old jerseys, the trophy room, press room, went on the field, and even got to sit in the players' seats. It was so cool. I can't imagine how awesome it would be to see a game there.

On the field!!!

From the stadium we went to el escondite for the copa de bienvenida with our new friends. We also met a girl from Texas named Julie who's going to find us in Salmanca when she comes for a week. After that we went home and ate a dinner of zucchini soup and some sort of potato/ meat pie. It was pretty good. We told our madre about broccoli cheese soup and she's excited to try a new recipe. Hopefully I will get her recipes for typical Spanish comida by the end of this week. I will definitely miss my padres here in Madrid. They have been so helpful and sweet.

Late last night we took our international friends out for chocolate and churros and met with a bunch of Samford people. It's always fun when a big group gets together.
