Holy Toledo!

Today we got up bright and early again for our excursion to Toledo. It's about an hour south of Madrid in Castilla-La Mancha. It was really a beautiful city, but boy were those building packed tight!

The Plaza decorated for Corpus Christi

We toured the cathedral, saw El Greco's house and most famous painting (El Entierro de Señor de Orgaz), saw a lace making convention, tried some delicious Marzipan and attempted to see how they make hand-made gold jewelry but the museum was closed. I splurged on some beautiful gold and black stud earrings that were hand-made in Toledo.

Ladies making lace in the Plaza Mayor.

We came back this afternoon exhausted as always. We ate the delicious lasagna our madre made and caught up on blogging and compared pictures. We found out tonight that our next house mates starting in about a week will be 2 Swiss boys. We're pretty excited :)
Tonight we hung out in our favorite cafeteria and Courtney was right...if we go often enough, they'll give us free food. So tonight our Moroccan pizza man friend gave us free crepes with nutella. Delicious.
Well, it's off to bed. I'm looking forward to sleeping in for the first time on this trip. Buenas Noches!

  1. Toledo! That's so exciting! Did you like the mazapan? Did yours have pumpkin in it? Isn't is GORGEOUS? That was where the really good pizzaria is, so if you ever go back and get hungry, you should definitely chow there.

Free crepes? Rock on! That's beautiful. I love hearing about your adventures! Thanks for posting!

  2. Mazapan was amazing and so much better than the puche we had in Segovia. I did think Toledo was beautiful but really hilly and really hot so I liked small town Segovia better. Love ya!
