"Hola!" - Winnie the Pooh

Happy Monday! School today was back in Lagasca (the original location) and we are trying to get used to our new classrooms and being surrounded by other American students. It was a good day in school. In grammar we talked mainly about poetry and kind of made up our own. In culture, we talked about food. Our homework is to get typical Spanish recipes from our madres. It gives me an excuse to ask her for them :)

After a quick lunch in the park, me and Courtney went shopping on our street and met up with Karin and Jackie at the cafe down the street. I actually bought something this time! I got a tank top (you can never have enough here) and a pair of cute and cheap shoes.

I came back home and crashed for an hour before dinner. Dinner was a good hearty soup with potatoes, peas and carrots and a salad with apple on the side. I have eaten so many apples since I've been here. Something I never thought I would say.

After dinner we met up with some friends at a local pub. There we made a plan of fun things to do for our last 2 weeks in Madrid. It was overwhelming but we have a lot to look forward to. We're going to a few more museums, a tour of the palace, going to a Spanish opera, a Spanish movie, and of course out for more churros. Afterwards, me and Courtney explored Sol and attempted to brave the Corte Ingles (basically the biggest department store ever). Six stories later, with hurting feet, we gave up without seeing it all. Stuff is actually pretty expensive there. Be thankful for wal-mart.

While walking through Sol, you never know what you're going to see. As me and Courtney were strolling through the Plaza, Winnie the Pooh greeted us with an "hola!" We were seriously caught off guard by the Spanish Pooh, hence the title of the blog.

Later, Caitlin and Kimberley met up with us in the Plaza Mayor for some helado and we just walked around getting to know each other. They're also going to be in Spain for 9 weeks and I'm really excited to have this experience with them.

  1. I want to hear more about this 6 story store! And the cute shoes. That's awesome. Thanks for, again, being the best blogger ever. And for reading my blog. :)
